iw software package provides tool for configuring Linux wireless devices, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install iw
iw is installed in your system.
Make ensure the iw package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep iw *
You will get with iw package name, version, architecture and description in a table
